Terms of Service
Last updated 2 September 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you (“you”) and Crow Recon (“we”, “us”, or “Crow Recon”), governing your use of the Crow Recon desktop application and the website at crowrecon.com (together, the “Service”). By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Crow Recon is
Crow Recon is a desktop application for external, read-only security reconnaissance — it maps a target’s public attack surface (ports, subdomains, certificates, DNS/email posture, exposed files and services, and similar signals) and grades the associated risk. Crow Recon performs only benign, non-destructive requests (TCP connects and standard GET requests); it does not exploit, modify, delete, brute-force, or otherwise attack any system. Its output is informational and is not a guarantee that a system is or is not secure.
2. Authorized use only
This is the most important term. You may use Crow Recon only against assets, domains, hosts, and networks that you own or for which you have explicit, current, written authorization to test. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have that authorization before scanning any target.
- You must comply with all applicable laws, including the U.S. Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and any equivalent local laws, and with the acceptable-use and terms of any third party whose assets you assess.
- You must not use the Service to access, probe, or map any system without authorization, nor to aid any unlawful, harmful, or deceptive activity.
- You are responsible for the configuration and consequences of your scans, including any credentials you supply for authenticated scope.
We may suspend or terminate your license immediately, without refund, if we reasonably believe you have used the Service in violation of this section.
3. License grant, tiers, and license keys
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Crow Recon for your own or your organization’s authorized security assessments.
- Free provides the core one-shot scanner. Pro unlocks additional capabilities (such as continuous monitoring, authenticated scope, extended history, and finding tickets) for the term you purchase.
- Pro is unlocked by a license key delivered to you after purchase. Your key is personal to you; you must not share, resell, or publish it. We may revoke a key that is shared or used in violation of these Terms.
- Crow Recon runs locally. It requires no account, sends no telemetry, and keeps your scan data on your own machine.
We reserve all rights not expressly granted. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or circumvent the license mechanism except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
4. Purchases, subscriptions, and our reseller
Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”), which acts as the Merchant of Record and reseller for purchases of Crow Recon. When you buy a paid tier, your order is also subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Paddle collects and processes your payment and billing information and handles applicable taxes; we do not receive or store your full payment details.
- Paid tiers are sold as annual subscriptions that renew automatically at the then-current price until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; your access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Prices are shown at checkout and may change for future terms; we will not change the price of a term you have already paid for.
- Refunds are handled as described in our Refund Policy.
5. Intellectual property
Crow Recon, its source, branding, and the website are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a license to use the software, not ownership of it. The results of your own scans belong to you.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its findings are complete or accurate. Security assessment is inherently imperfect: a finding is a signal to investigate, and the absence of a finding is not a guarantee of safety. You are responsible for validating results and for any decisions you make based on them.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms, even if advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your scans, or your breach of these Terms — in particular any scan you run without proper authorization.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms (including the authorized-use requirement). On termination, your right to use paid features ends; sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law) will survive.
10. Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date; your continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Texas for any dispute not subject to arbitration or small-claims resolution, to the extent permitted by law.
